Meet the artist behind Bloomella.
Hello, I’m Michelle — a watercolour artist, graphic designer, and lifelong lover of soft florals, cosy characters, and anything a little bit magical.

I live in England with my husband and our two young boys, who keep life wonderfully chaotic, loud, and full of unexpected dance breaks. I’m a true Sagittarius at heart: optimistic, adventurous, curious, always dreaming big, and admittedly a bit impatient, especially when I’m excited about new ideas (which is… often).
I’ve always loved a bit of adventure, and before settling into family life, my husband and I enjoyed many holidays together — parasailing in Mauritius, zip-lining through the jungle in Mexico, wandering along beaches, and sightseeing with my camera in hand. I’d snap little moments that caught my eye: flowers, fashions, colours, buildings, landscapes — anything that sparked inspiration. Those memories, and inspiration still flow into everything I paint today.

Professionally, I’ve been a graphic designer for nearly 20 years, and for the last decade I’ve specialised in whimsical watercolour and gouache illustration. From my home studio—armed with far too many paints, my iMac, and usually my two small adorable boys popping in for snacks — I’ve created artwork that has now reached people all around the world. With over 650,000 clipart downloads across multiple platforms, Bloomella has grown into something far bigger and more magical than I ever imagined.

In 2018, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and chronic pain quickly became a regular part of my life. Art became more than a passion— it became my way through. On difficult days, painting is the one thing that grounds me, softens the edges, and brings me back to myself. Alongside healthy eating and anti-inflammatory living, watercolour became a form of therapy.
This journey led me to study and fall in love with colour therapy and colour meditation. I truly believe creativity can help people through pain, stress, or those tender moments in life when you just need something gentle and comforting. One of my dreams is to help guide others toward healing and peace through art and colour, the same way it has helped me.
So if my thoughts ever come out a little tangled or I trail off mid-sentence… just blame the fibro-brain-fog — it shows up unannounced!

I’m obsessed with painting:
🐧 cute animal characters illustrations
🌸 florals and foliage
🍄 mushrooms, butterflies and nature
🎨 bright watercolours
🐅 realistic animals and insects
✨ tiny details that make people smile
When I’m not painting, you’ll find me:
💛 dancing in the kitchen with my boys
✈️ planning my next family holiday
📚 reading mystery books
📱 looking for my phone (I misplace it daily!)
🎨 and leaving voice notes for my friends that are basically mini podcasts

Bloomella is my happy place — where creativity meets calm, colour meets magic, and cosy characters come to life.
I create art in the hope that it brings someone a smile, a spark of inspiration, or a quiet moment of peace. Through tutorials, paint-alongs, and fun watercolour moments, I love inspiring others to slow down, learn something new, and pick up a paintbrush. I hope you enjoy following along and feel encouraged to join me on this colourful journey.
